Question 03 of 7

Why are we here?

It's the question that shows up at three in the morning. After a loss. In the middle of a crisis. Or, strangely, when everything is fine and something still feels missing. If life is hard, as the previous question showed, it has to answer why. Otherwise, why play?

The Game's answer

We are here to evolve. Life works like a game: a system of experiences with rules, challenges, learning, and growth. And in this game, the negative isn't the obstacle in your path. It's the portal.

Wide · The scale of the universe

You are the point where the universe plays

Pick up the thread of the first two questions: you are the universe experiencing itself, and experience only exists through opposition. Put the two pieces together and the conclusion appears on its own: you aren't waiting for meaning to arrive from outside. You are the place where it happens.

Every fear you move through, every choice made in front of an opposite, every capacity you develop: it's existence coming to know itself through you. Purpose isn't a prize hidden at the end of the road. It's the walking itself, done with direction.

And a structured experience, with rules, challenges, a scoreboard, and growth, has a name: a game.

Medium · The mechanics of the game

Life works like a game

Not a trivial game: a complete system. And like every game, it has three elements:

Element 01

The objective

To evolve. Not to accumulate, not to beat others, not to reach the end unharmed: to become, move after move, a more conscious version of who you already are.

Element 02

The scoreboard

Not one, but seven: the frequencies of human experience. Scoring positively across them, for yourself and for others, in the short and long term, is playing well.

Element 03

The mechanic

With every opposition life presents, you make choices. And your choices define who you become. Opposition → choice → growth: that's a turn of the game.

The rule that changes everything: the negative is the portal

Every player wants to know where the missing experience is. In The Soul Game, the answer is precise: exactly where it hurts. Every challenge, every lack, every hard emotion isn't a random punishment: it's the map pointing to the frequency asking for your next move.

Suffering without a reading is just suffering. Suffering that's read becomes a coordinate:

"I live anxious, afraid of tomorrow"the Root is asking for movement
"Constant anger and frustration"the Solar Plexus is asking for movement
"A hurt that won't pass"the Heart is asking for movement
"Nothing makes sense, I feel empty"the Crown is asking for movement

That's why the question "why is this happening to me?" has an answer in the Game: because that's exactly where your next evolution is.

Specific · The journey, frequency by frequency

Where we start from, and where the game leads

The problem is never the element. Safety, pleasure, power, love, expression, insight, and meaning aren't the enemy: suffering shows up when each of them is played from deficiency or from excess. The levels of the game are your position on that axis:

Level 1: Where we beginDeficiency or Excess: the two extremes of the same imbalance. The game swings from one side to the other, and the extremes run the show.
Level 2: The pathYou notice when you're at the extreme and learn to steer back, faster and faster.
Level 3: The arrivalThe Balanced: the element in the right measure, positive for you and for those around you.

Root

The element: Safety
Deficiency · Level 1

Fear, anxiety, a constant sense of threat. Life turns into survival.

Balanced · Level 3

Safety that's built: stability, planning, calm, the solid ground that lets you take risks.

Excess · Level 1

Control, rigidity, clinging to the familiar. Protection turns into a prison.

Sacral

The element: Pleasure
Deficiency · Level 1

Repression, apathy, loss of vitality. Life loses its color.

Balanced · Level 3

Conscious, creative pleasure: vitality, enthusiasm, the ability to enjoy without losing yourself.

Excess · Level 1

Addiction, compulsion, escape through stimulation. Pleasure turns into anesthesia.

Solar Plexus

The element: Power
Deficiency · Level 1

Weakness, submission, powerlessness. Procrastination and the sense of not measuring up.

Balanced · Level 3

Confidence and achievement: discipline that builds, power used to create, not to dominate.

Excess · Level 1

Domination, arrogance, destructive competition. Winning turns into crushing.

Heart

The element: Love
Deficiency · Level 1

Coldness, isolation, disconnection. The heart closed by hurt or defense.

Balanced · Level 3

Love without dependence: bonds that hold you up, compassion with limits, real connection.

Excess · Level 1

Dependence, guilt, self-erasure. Loving turning into losing yourself in someone else.

Throat

The element: Expression
Deficiency · Level 1

Silence, shame, a repressed voice. Swallowing what needed to be said.

Balanced · Level 3

Authenticity and influence: truth spoken with proportion, communication that builds.

Excess · Level 1

Imposition, manipulation, a forced narrative. The voice used to control.

Third Eye

The element: Insight
Deficiency · Level 1

Ignorance, confusion, illusion. Lost in the noise, deciding in the dark.

Balanced · Level 3

Discernment: clarity, strategy, decisions you stand behind calmly.

Excess · Level 1

Mental arrogance, false certainty, paralysis by analysis. Understanding turned into never acting.

Crown

The element: Meaning
Deficiency · Level 1

Emptiness, nihilism, disconnection from purpose. "None of this matters."

Balanced · Level 3

Purpose lived out: peace, direction, integration. Meaning stops being a question and becomes a practice.

Excess · Level 1

Spiritual bypassing, fanaticism, disconnection from reality. Heaven as a hiding place from life.

And how do you level up? By playing the same situation.

You don't develop a level by reading: you develop it by navigating real situations. Life presents the experience; your reaction reveals your level; and repetition is the training. Follow the same situation, played three times across a lifetime:

The situation

"You get harsh criticism, in front of other people."

Level 1Reacts

The extreme runs the show. Either you blow up, hit back on the spot, and spend the week at war (the Excess of the Solar Plexus), or you swallow it, smile awkwardly, and stew over the humiliation for weeks, rehearsing at 2 a.m. the answer you never gave (the Deficiency). Either way, the situation played you.

Level 2Navigates

The anger still comes, it always comes. But now you notice it before you obey it. You breathe. You read the signal: what exactly stung? You separate what's useful in the criticism from what was just unfair, and you respond with proportion. What used to cost weeks now costs an hour: the return to balance got faster.

Level 3Creates

The same situation arrives, and finds a different player. You listen without dissolving, take what serves you, calmly discard what doesn't, and even use the moment to state your position with clarity. The criticism that once knocked you down now becomes fuel. The situation didn't change. You did.

And here's the secret almost no one tells you: the situation will repeat, and that isn't failure, it's the design of the training. Every hard experience that returns is the game handing you the same level, so you can play it as the player you've become. Your real level isn't measured by the absence of the extreme: it's measured by how long it takes you to return to balance.

The same pattern, in any situation

Five common situations, and the difference between the situation playing you (Level 1) and you playing it (Level 3). The path between the two columns is Level 2, and that's what you train:

The situationLevel 1: ReactsLevel 3: Creates
Root"The budget won't balance at the end of the month"
Frozen by anxiety, or you put it on a payment plan and pretend you didn't see it. Fear decides.
You face the numbers, cut back calmly, and build a plan. Fear turns into planning.
Sacral"Sunday night, that emptiness"
Anesthesia: screens, food, endless scrolling until sleep wins.
You read the emptiness as a signal and answer it with what truly recharges you: creating, living, resting with presence.
Heart"The end of a relationship"
You close your heart "for good," or you beg them to come back. The hurt runs the show.
You feel the pain without rushing, take the lesson, and open up again, without carrying the bill to the next person.
Throat"That hard conversation that needs to happen"
You put it off forever, or you dump it all at once, at the worst possible moment.
You speak the truth with proportion, at the right time. The conversation builds instead of destroys.
Third Eye"A big decision, with no obvious answer"
Paralysis by analysis, or a decision made on impulse just to be rid of the dread.
You gather what's essential, accept there won't be total certainty, decide, and stand behind it.

Important: the arrival isn't a place you stay forever. Life will keep pushing you toward deficiency and toward excess, in different frequencies, at different moments. Evolving isn't never leaving balance. It's returning to it faster and faster. That path back is Level 2, and that's what you train.

The finale · The complete answer

The curriculum: the seven lessons every life moves through

Put it all together, and this page's question gets its most direct answer. Call it the soul's school or the curriculum of human experience: each frequency is a lesson, with a challenge that life presents and a capacity that only develops by moving through it. No one skips a subject:

Lesson1
Root

Endure

The challenge: pressure, fear, scarcity, need.

→ Develops: standing firm, surviving, building stability.

Lesson2
Sacral

Feel

The challenge: boredom, repetition, lack of stimulation.

→ Develops: feeling pleasure, creativity, vitality.

Lesson3
Solar Plexus

Act

The challenge: obstacles, competition, resistance.

→ Develops: acting, achieving, exercising power with proportion.

Lesson4
Heart

Love

The challenge: forgiving, accepting differences, allowing yourself to be vulnerable.

→ Develops: loving, integrating, connecting people.

Lesson5
Throat

Express

The challenge: not being heard, rejection, failing to influence.

→ Develops: expressing, communicating, influencing reality.

Lesson6
Third Eye

Understand

The challenge: not knowing, uncertainty, complexity.

→ Develops: understanding, spotting patterns, seeing solutions.

Lesson7
Crown

Trust

The challenge: the impossible, the emptiness, the absence of meaning.

→ Develops: faith, purpose, creating the impossible, trusting the unknown.

The lessons don't come in a line: they weave together across your whole life, and your configuration defines which ones weigh most in each phase. But no life takes shape without passing through them all.

Why are we here? To take these seven lessons, knowing the course has no final diploma. It has something better: a player who returns to balance faster and faster, in lessons that go deeper and deeper.

Echoes in other traditions

Every culture has told this story: the call, the hard crossing, the transformed return, the Hero's Journey that myths have repeated for millennia. Philosophies spoke of eudaimonia, spiritual traditions spoke of the evolution of the soul. They're echoes of the same insight: meaning isn't found in escaping difficulty, it's found in moving through it. In The Soul Game, the structure is its own: seven frequencies as a scoreboard, the negative as a portal, and three levels of play.

Where is your game calling you?

If the negative is the portal, the first step is to read your signals: the diagnosis shows which frequencies are asking for movement, and where to start.
